    I understand the long pvc pipe is where you water the terrarium, but what are the short ones for? I'm planning a carnivorous terrarium in a 10 gallon tank. Your build has given me some great ideas. Thank you.

    Fantastic video . I have an a large octagon Terrarium. I use it for tropical Nepenthes and Ideal fore growing Drosera Filliformus Red Variety. It’s a hot frame set up . With a 900 watt Light . Nepenthes love a lot of light . And are pitching like mad . And sending out basal shoots along N. Ventercosa. All up the stem. Although I mist daily . Rain water . Keeps everything going . Well ventilated. Light not humidity is key. I’d love some seeds as well for sun loving Drosera’s . Good luck and happy growing to all .

    Sorry, but Drosera Capensis is originally from the Cape region in South Africa, where the climate is Mediterranean, which is not tropical. Why is it considered as a tropical sundew then? Also this means that it actually can grow outside for example in Southern Europe( since it also has mainly a Mediterranean climate).

    _Drosera adelae_ grow to be big plants... especially in shade. I've seen it grow eight inches from tip to tip. the 'giant form' up to ten inches. I don't see that there's enough space in your terrarium for such a big plant, may smother the pygmies. _D. adelae_ do grow smaller & redder in bright light. _D. burmannii_ can easily become a weed as they produce a lot of seed & germinate to readily.Had these suckers smother my slower growing sundew & once a pot of Venus flytrap seedlings.

  • @OverlordShamala
    @OverlordShamala Год назад

    _Drosera burmannii_ can easily become a pest, they are annuals but do produce large amount of seeds. And they do germinate readily, completely out competing slower growing _Droseras._

    So I'm going to be growing a Drosera Capensis and the soil bit seems a little complicated, and I want to know if natural sun is better tan artificial light. Also, any tips on the limits of a D. Capensis is very helpful, especially humidity. Thanks!

    Nice terrarium but you're wrong on the trapping mechanism of the terrestrial Ultricuaria species; only the aquatic species have a trapping mechanism as you describe. Maybe you should use smaller packs of cocaine 2:59

    I use ericaceous compost and my D. Capensis is currently enjoying an eight inch dia goldfish bowl with the soil about two inches deep. A transparent lid pushes the humidity way up and I feed it on ham and cheese. The plant is about five inches across and very healthy.

    I love that you actually thought what CPs should be put in the terrarium, not like other content creators who just plop random CPs in(like VFTs! They should never be in a terrarium!). I would like to see an update of this though.

    How do you think Springtails would do in a tank? I am truing to make on in Georgia, and the natural humidity combined with natural light making it indoors caused mold and algae to overtake my last one. Would Springtails damage the plants?

    Today I repotted some of my plants from the garden center, (they sell carniv-plants) , also I put some of the baby sundew invasion in a new pot, last year, a big sundew had flowers and after dying a bit, now sprouts infiltrated all over my other carniv-plants! 😅 I have these plants for 1 year now.

    I feel like since the soil went almost all the way to the top, and the top is open, that this is kind of just like a planting pot at this point. But it looks prettier than a planting pot. Also you said don't water from above and then after planting the VFT, you watered from above. The reason to do it is the right reason but it's just funny that you mentioned a big point of not watering from above.
